Considering an investment in a cross-media solution?

If you are one of the many visitors to drupa looking for independent knowledgable advice on how to exploit the cross-media (customer communication management) arena, then look no further? You are probably back in your office trying to understand all the information you were given by the different suppliers, while being surrounded by brochures and marketing literature trying to decide what to do next. Why Designers should down-tools at 4pm today and listen

If you are a designer, use InDesign and have a role in creating marketing pieces for print then you really should down-tools this afternoon (Monday 20th April 2015) and give up an hour of your time to listen to a webinar from XMPie about uMerge. I'm not suggesting for one minute that you should this because there's anything in it for me (there's not) but because you owe it to yourself to know what is [...]

XMPie Circle Not Supported in Google Chrome

For anyone using the XMPie's Circle tool within Chrome (which has never been the most stable platform for using Circle) will now no longer get the opportunity to try because in April 2015 officially removed the support for Microsoft SilverLight (and other Netscape API based plugins). It is potentially possible to work around this (until September 2015, when everything is removed) by visiting the hidden configuration page in Chrome:  chrome://flags/#enable-npapi However this will also [...]

XMPie Users Group FINALLY Comes to Europe

For as long as the XMPie Users Group has existed I have been pushing for a European meeting. Even when I was inside XMPie we managed to host one such event in London, but it was never replicated formally. XMPie launches uMerge and targets the design community

On the 12th March XMPie, a leading provider of software for personalised communications in print and digital media, announced the release of uMerge. For those that already know and use XMPie, this announcement was useless to them as it brought nothing new. So what's so important about uMerge? uMerge, is essentially XMPie's next step into the subscription-based [...]

Day 1 – Cross Media Production 2014

Well day one of the Cross Media Production show in ExCel in London today, and my first visit to the new look IPEX 2014 - a new location and a new format. As for the location I personally don't think that it works as well as the NEC but then that might be because the NEC is just more accessible and local to me! 4 hours of travelling to get there did not put me [...]

Making print interactive with DocuMobi

One of the interesting and innovative companies at Cross Media 2013 is DocuMobi where print recognition is being easily tied together with cross media campaigns. Essentially through the mobile app any photo, or in this case photo of a printed piece can easily be scanned, recognised and linked into an online interactive campaign. Right now, there's a real surge happening around AR technologies focused on print interaction. While print has, in the main being a static medium of communication this is now changing thanks, in a large part by the uptake [...]
