We all like to keep a close eye on our bank accounts. We like to know what’s coming in, what’s going out and checking for any anomalies. I agree that some do it more regularly than others but at the end of the day it shows us our ‘worth’ and in what ‘state’ we are.

Now, in todays market as everyone looks to engage with businesses online why are we not doing the same with our own brands? When clients and customers are searching for you online, what they see or do not see gives them a sense of your ‘worth‘. What they read and perceive denotes your ‘state‘.

I’ve spent a while over the past few days cleaning out some things and researching others but at the same time looking at how others are doing things. Here’s just a few findings:

  • Poor presence on the web, or no thought to responsive design!
    • Poor web design, no responsive thought, poor content = not worth my time.
  • Contact photos that have been taken from the holiday album!
    • Seriously people, let’s be professional. Unprofessional appearance = unprofessional state.
  • Companies promoting a knowledge in marketing with little or no social media presence!
    • Not doing what you claim to do or know = not trust worthy, and not worth my time.
  • Links to media which are woefully out of date, or worse, broken!
    • Not keeping a check on things or keeping your house tidy = questionable ability to look after me in the long term.

So, when was the last time you checked your own brand? It’s not hard start with Google and go from there. Even better get someone else to do it for you. But check it, you could be haemorrhaging prospects or opportunities because what someone see’s is not in a good state or not worth their time.
